Studio diary (Watercastle 1.-14.4.2008 & 6.5.-7.5.2008)
DAY 2
It was a long day but we made it! The "jazz odyssey" is now mixed and it sounds great! At the end of the day we had a little time to adjust some minor things in two other songs. There's always more you would want to do but in the end time runs out... as usual... Nevertheless, we are really pleased of the overall result. Hopefully You like it too! First samples will be available this summer and the whole thing will be available in August. Stay tuned and God bless!

DAY 1 (second session)
Back in the studio! During these two days we should mix the longest and most complex song in Deuteronomium history... This is an ambiguous project and we were a little nervous how it would end up. But after the first day we think we can assure that the result will sound terrific! Almost all instrument tracks have been mixed and tomorrow the main focus will be on vocals. All the puzzle pieces are finally getting together!

DAYS 13 and 14
Editing and mixing. At the end of the sessions we had 11 songs mixed. Only the trilogy must be mixed later. Of these 11 songs we should now choose 8 for the coming album... this is not an easy task... The rest of the songs will not be thrown in garbage... We think there could be some use for them later!

DAY 12
Most of the day was spent mixing more songs. In the afternoon Päivi Niemi arrived with her kantele. At first we had some strange problems with tuning but when the issue was finally solved, Päivi successfully recorded her parts. The result sounds really cool!

DAY 11
Same as before (editing and mixing). Mikko Härkin arrived to the studio and we added some piano and samples. Almost all pieces are together... almost! :)

DAY 10
Editing and mixing...
DAY 9
Editing, editing and editing....
DAY 8
Today Miika finished his vocal lines. We also had a new visitor - Kristiina Holländer came from Kirkkonummi and performed some beautiful female vocals on a couple of songs. Miika, Manu and Kalle sang some choral arrangements. It sounded very much like... umm... well... one well known not-metal-band... ;) Some of the shouting choir stuff had to be re-recorded. Unfortunately, we had to do it without Claudio and Christian. But luckily there is still one song which contains the "original lineup." At the end of the day we recorded the acoustic guitar parts and a little bit of percussion. Practically everything is now recorded and ready to be edited and mixed. Only a few things will be recorded later.

DAY 7
Miika started to record vocals. He had a little bit pressure because of Claudio's performance but there's no need to worry! Miika likes challenges and he's doing a great job!

DAY 6
The whole day was spent editing the recorded stuff...
DAY 5
Saturday... time to record some vocal stuff... We had three visitors at the studio. Claudio (Sacrificium) flew from Germany to record some really nasty metal growls, and it sounded GREAT! Christian Palin (Random Eyes, etc.) and Oula Siipola (Lumina Polaris) sang some awesome heavy metal stuff! Plus, we formed a "shouting choir" (Claudio, Christian, Miika, Manu and Kalle). We all got a sore throat but we assure you it was worth it! The guest vocals were recorded - for now... The next hour and a half was spent "importing" the correct bass sound to the songs. This time the bass player did NOT forget the gear... Towards the end of the day we had our first debate regarding artistic views :) We left the studio a little bit earlier. Arttu stayed there to do some editing.

DAY 4
In the morning Miika played the missing backing tracks for the trilogy. After that we changed the amp and guitar player as Kalle started to play leads and solos. He advanced quickly and after about four intensive hours every solo and lead was done. We were now lucky to have time to record the missing guitar parts and fix some bass tracks. At the end of the day every electrical guitar part was finished. The schedule seems now much better. Tomorrow, when some guests come to the studio, we have solid backing tracks ready for them!

DAY 3
Now it was time for Miika to kick in. A good guitar sound was found pretty quickly and Miika was very eager to play the first rhythm tracks. He did a great job and he did it really fast! After that we changed the guitar and amp for the doubling track. At the end of the day the basic tracks for every song, except the trilogy were finished. We were gaining our schedule!

DAYS 1&2
The studio sessions finally continue! This time we are in Jyväskylä at Studio Watercastle with Arttu Sarvanne. During the first two days we were struggling with many mysterious and not so mysterious technical problems. When one issue was solved, another appeared. But at the end of day 2 everything seemed fine and Manu was able to play the missing bass tracks. Anyhow, we were now late in our planned schedule...

Studio Diary (Drumforest)
DAY 5
We have just finished our Drumforest sessions. All the drums are now completely ready and we also managed to record bass tracks for 3 songs. Drummer Markus Niemispelto (Mehida, Random Eyes etc.) features on one song with some really nice march drumming.Doing recordings in the middle of forest with a new sound engineer to work with has been a whole new experience for us. It has been a memorable week and we definitely are satisfied with the results. Now we will have a two weeks break after which we head to the Studio Watercastle to finish the album. We will get back to you again from there.
DAY 4
All right folks, here we are again, alive and kicking! J-J has got his job almost done, only one song to go tomorrow. He wanted to re-record some of the songs, so that took a little bit extra time, but was definitely worth it. Manu recorded his bass parts for the 15-minute gigantic metal piece, so also his work has started well. Miika has just been lazy most of the day... Well, actually hes been listening with his ears finely tuned, taking care that the other guys are giving their best all the time. At the dinner-table we had (besides great food) a bad joke contest, and the winner was this one: "Jazz is a blues band falling down the stairs." LOL (J-J wants to stress that he didnt take part in that contest - cant talk, eating!) Early tomorrow morning well wake up fresh and energic... Noooot! Anyway, one more day to go this time, and were already missing the Drumforest studios atmosphere. Good night, and good luck
DAY 3
Another hard day has passed. Today we recorded drums for the most massive song in Deuteronomium..s history. Almost 15 minutes of heavy metal with lots of different parts and hooks. It is nice to have some variation for the three-minute-blast-songs. Manu also started working with his bass tracks. We are well in schedule and everything feels just great. Now it is time for sauna and barbeque party.
DAY 2
This has been a great J-J has almost done his drumworks. Only one song to go. Though we have only drums recorded the songs already sound awesome. Our feeling is good and it is great to work with nice people here at the studio! J-J has done really awesome job so it´ll be easy to record bass and guitars on the tight drum tracks. That´s all for now, more again tomorrow!
DAY 1
Hey ho! Greetings from the studio. We just finished the first day of recordings of our new album. The studio is located to Viitasaari, country side of middle Finland, and there are no other activities but recording. Which is in our case pretty good thing. As you know we are quite lazy guys. Our sound engineer Nikke is a great guy and he is pushing us to the limits, but that is what we need to get our fans´ wishes satisfied. Today we have mostly worked on the drum sounds, but J-J has also recorded few songs. We are still excited about the new material and can not wait to get the album finished. Now it is time for sauna and sweet dreams. We will get back to you tomorrow!

PS. Our stupid bass player forgot his bass amp and cabinet to home... Well done!
