An FPV ground station can be quite complicated or simple as you want it to be. Ideally, the ground station should have three distinct items that include the video receiver, video receiver antenna, and goggles.
Choosing FPV Receiver
The receiver receives an RF video transmission signal from your drone. It will then send the signal to video display through standard RCA analog video, and it can be an audio cable if you want to transmit audio from the drone. In this case, you have three options: frequency, built-in, and diversity type.
Ideally, the frequency decision is the easiest of the three options. You only need to ensure that the frequency of the video transmitter is the same as that of the receiver. That means if you buy a 5.8 GHz transmitter for the drone, you should get a 5.8 GHz receiver for the ground station. Most transmitters allow you to choose a lot of channels within the frequency band. That is also the case with the station receivers.
FPV Ground Station Antennas
You may decide to get an antenna tracker, which is an advanced device for your fpv ground station, to allow for the use of antennas with drones. You can mount it, and it will follow your drone, and it will always be pointed to the aircraft. If you are only starting in your FPV journey, this is something you will avoid because it is costly.
If you want to monitor long-range flying, then you will need to …
